Del’s WOD! | Double Kettlebell Snatch Session!

Something slightly different today with my snatch session. Those of you proficient at snatching with a single bell will probably find the transition to two bells relatively straight forward.  You will need to be cautious of course because you will be significantly increasing the loading through your body. On the other hand, you will no longer have to deal with the uneven loading as the need to resist the rotation through your body will be removed.
It’s a great way though to load up your hips and posterior chain with significantly more weight. I was peaking at 2 x 24kg today, way more than I could ever you with a single bell.
Start off with the lightest double set of bells that you have and just snatch without over thinking it. You will need a wider stance of course to allow the bells to pass between your legs. Watch out for the bells clashing too heavily together as this can cause them to bounce out and potentially hit you in the shins, not what you want!
Here’s my session today.
The following was done in a continuous sequence resting only for the prescribed times.
  • 2 x 12kg x 20 reps. 30 second recovery
  • 2 x 16kg x 15 reps. 45 second recovery
  • 2 x 20kg x 12 reps. 60 seconds recovery
  • 2 x 24kg x 10 reps. 90 seconds recovery
I repeated the above an additional 5 times for a total of 6 sets.
