Try this easy exercise to enhance your total-body coordination
Coordination isn't always something you think about when heading to the gym. "But without it, your workout would suffer," says David Jack, creator of the Men's Health 60-Day Transformation, and owner of ActivPrayer in Phoenix, Arizona.
The ability to move your muscles in a manner that is smooth and efficient (read: coordinated) can help you lift larger loads and exert more power in all moves, he says. That's why exercises like the stick hurdle exchange are so important.
"It helps to teach your muscles—like your shoulders, lats, arms, grip, abs, hips, and legs—to work together all at once to perform fluid movements," says Jack. And it's also a great way to warm your muscles and loosen up for an intense workout.
